" Friday - Ross Park Bible Class, 10:00 a.m. Bible Class at the Brown County Jail, 1:00 p.m. " Sunday - Sunday School and Bible Class begin at 8:00 a.m. Grace worship services begin at 9:00 a.m. Worship at Faith, New Ulm, begins at 10:30 a.m. News and Notes -- November 16, 2008 " We give thanks along with Grant and Heather Romberg, on the occasion of the birth of their fourth child. Robert Daniel Romberg was born late Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 11. Both mother and child are doing well. " On our entryway table this morning there is a copy of a devotional book by retired Pastor L.D. Redlin, entitled "Poems of Prayer and Praise." Please see the signup sheet if you would like to purchase a copy. " From Ron and Jane Fischer: "We would like to thank each of you for your prayers, words of encouragement, and cards when Ronnie had heart bypass surgery. Thank you pastor for coming all the way to the cities to see us and at home. With God's help we will get through this." " The November 10 Church Council meeting of Grace Lutheran Church opened at 7:30 p.m. with the reading of Hebrews 4:1-10 and prayer. <> Church Council members in attendance were Charles Romberg, Howard Engholm, Joel Schauman, Ron Geiger, and Dave Theneman. Also present were Pastor Naumann, Treasure Walt Romberg, and President Wade Schlie. <> The minutes of the October 6th , meeting was approved as read. <> Walt Romberg presented the financial report; it showed a balance of all funds of $4934.29. Bills totaling $1788.34 were approved for payment. <> Pastor Naumann reported on membership matters. <> The following property items have been completed: the door by the men's restroom, the parsonage attic whirly birds, the installation of additional insulation in the parsonage attic, and maintenance on the snow blower. <> The parsonage furnace motor is making noise when it starts, and the church's furnace is losing water. Wade will check on these items, and call Cody Fischer to repair them, if needed. <> Ron Geiger went over the possibility of painting the church's paneling or removing the paneling and taping the walls. An estimate is still needed on the painting part of the potential project. A report will be brought to the Annual Meeting in January. <> The disposition of the recent $25,000 bequest was discussed. Our Council members are interested in hearing ideas for local church projects that can be paid for with these funds. <> The Council adopted the following holiday service schedule: Thanksgiving, Nov. 27th 9 a.m.; Christmas Eve, Dec. 24th, 7 p.m.; Christmas Day, Dec. 25th, 9 a.m.; New Years Eve, Dec. 31, 7 p.m. <> The next Council meeting will be December 8th, at 6:30 pm. There will be two vacancies on the Council to be filled. The Committee will recommend the following candidates to the voters: Marlin Huiras, John Maas, Mike Schauman, and Mike Bottelberghe. Voters, please plan to be present for the annual Electoral Meeting, on Monday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m. " ILC Academic Center Building Project Update: Now that most of the concrete slab has been poured, walls are going up for the new Academic Center. Studs started going up on November 3rd, and now sheeting has been going up. Block walls were also constructed for what will be the music room, a room that will also be utilized as a storm shelter. At the same time, wells are being drilled which will be used for the geothermal HVAC system. Some ILC students also volunteered their time to bury conduit for the building's fiber optic network.
