P: Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness, according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.

C: Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Wash me and I shall be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; Let the bones You have crushed rejoice.

With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with year-old calves? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams and rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the offspring of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To have righteousness and to love mercy and to walk humbly before your God.
