Opening Hymn 606 – “O’er The Distant Mountains Breaking”

The Liturgy ……………………………………… Hymnal, Page 5ff

The Scripture Reading: Luke 21: 25 - 36 He told them this parable: Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the Kingdom of God is near. I tell you the truth: This people will not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away. Be careful or your hearts will be weighed down with overindulgence and with the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the earth. Be watchful and pray that you may escape what is about to happen and be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

(Refrain)All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all….. Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings, He made their glowing colors, He made their tiny wings (Refrain). The purple headed mountain, the river running by, the sunset and the morning that brightens up the sky; The cold wind in the winter, the pleasant summer sun, the ripe fruits in the garden, He made them every one (Refrain). He gave us eyes to see them, and lips that we might tell How great is God almighty, Who has made all things well. (Refrain)

Hymn 743 (Supplement) –“Immortal, Invisible,God Only Wise”

The Liturgy …………………… Worship Supplement (Pages 12-13)

The Responsive Reading Of Psalm 19: 1-6

P: The heavens declare the glory of God; The skies proclaim the work of His hands. C: Day after day they pour forth speech; Night after night they display knowledge.

P: There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
C: Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the end of the world.

P: In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his race.
C: It rises from the one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; Nothing is hidden from its heat.

THE AWESOME GLORY OF OUR CREATOR GOD

(Dr. David Menton)

Hymn 744 (V 1-2) Supplement – “How Great Thou Art”

The Responsive Reading Of Psalm 19: 7-14

P: The Word of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The testimonies of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
C: The statutes of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

P: The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The judgments of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.
C: They are much more precious and to be desired than gold and sweeter than honey from the honeycomb.

P: By them is Your servant warned; In keeping them there is great reward.
C: Who can understand his errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep Your servant also from willful sins; May they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.

All: May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

(10:30) Song By All Sunday School Children Director: Heather Schierenbeck Accompanist: Barb Breth

1. I put a cross of black inside The heart that stands for me.
I put it there because I know Christ died to make me free.

2. A rose of white holds up my heart Just like my pillow soft.
God keeps me happy and so safe I never will fee lost.

3. Behind the rose the sky is blue Like heaven’s sky may be.
I plan to live with Jesus there, But first the world I’ll see.

4. Around this all I drew a ring Of gold that has no end.
It’s like a promise God will keep To always be my Friend.

The Invocation And Opening Prayer

(10:30) Song By Choir: “The Church Of Christ Shall Stand”
Director: Cathy Augustin Accompanist: Heather Schierenbeck

The Church of God is founded on Christ our Lord and King.
By faith in Him we are grounded, and of his Grace we sing.
(Refrain) In love, God gently guides us with his sustaining hand;
With God, our Shield beside us, the Church of Christ shall stand.

Through storm and tribulation God’s church has yet endured.
By trial and reformation its future is secured. (Refrain)

One body, one communion, one faith in Christ we share,
One fellowship, one union, one banner do we bear.
One fiery declaration, one flame that must be fanned,
And on one true foundation, the Church of Christ shall stand.
The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord.
She is his new creation by water and the Word.
From heaven He came and sought her to be his holy bride;
With His own blood He bought her, and for her life He died.
The Church of Christ shall stand!

We Confess Our Faith In God (Augsburg Confession,Article I)
Our churches teach with common consent that the decree of the Council of Nicea about the unity of the Divine essence and the three Persons is true. It is to be believed without any doubt. God is one Divine essence Who is eternal, without a body, of infinite power, wisdom and goodness. He is the Maker and Preserver of all things, visible and invisible (Nehemiah 9:6). Yet there are three Persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). These three Persons are of the same essence and power. Our churches use the term person as the fathers have used it. We use it to signify, not a part or quality in another, but that which subsists of itself.
