The Sermon …………………………………………... Acts 1: 15-26

In those days Peter stood up among the believers and said, “Brothers, the Scriptures have been fulfilled regarding Judas who led those who arrested Jesus. Once he was one of us and shared in his ministry. And it is known throughout Jerusalem how he bought a field and there plunged headlong and died. And that Field became known as a field of blood. And now it has been prophesied in the Book of Psalms, ‘May another take his place of leadership’. Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us during our days with Jesus, for one of these must be a witness with us of the resurrection’. So they proposed two men: Joseph (also known as Justus) and Matthias. Then they prayed: “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go to his own place.” Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; So he was added to the eleven apostles.

But now the cross in glory stands, a symbol of the Living Lamb! O come, proclaim the victory, the wonder of the cross. 3. Come and see the risen King! Now, O death, where is thy sting? Come, pro- claim the Living Lamb, great I Am! All hail the King! Bring forth the royal diadem! Rejoice and sing, proclaim the King of kings, crown Him King!
4. Crown Him the Lord of Life, Who triumphed o’er the grave And rose victorious in the strife for those He came to save! His glories now we sing Who died and rose on high, Who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.

The Apostles Creed

Hymn 32 - “Redeemed, Restored, Forgiven”

The Sermon ……………………………………….. John 21: 15 – 17

When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love (agape- highest spiritual love) Me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “You know that I love (human love) you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” Again Jesus said, “Simon, do you love (agape) Me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, You know that I love (human) You”. He said to him, “Tend My sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, do you love (human) Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love (human) You.” Jesus said to Him, “Feed My sheep.”

“DO YOU LOVE ME?”

1. A Call To Repentance,Restoration & Renewal
2 . A Call To Care For The Lambs And Sheep

Hymn:“Lord, Help Us Walk Your Servant Way” (V 1-3, H Stuempfle – 1997; Adapted)

1. Lord,help us walk Your servant way Wherever love may lead;
And, bending low, forgetting self, Each serve the other’s need.

2. You came to earth, O Christ, as Lord, But pow’r You laid aside.
You lived Your years in servanthood; In lowliness You died.

3. You bid us bend our human pride Nor count ourselves above
The lowest place, the meanest task that waits the gift of love.

4. As Peter was redeemed, renewed, Forgiven and restored;
Repentant hearts, with love imbued, O grant us, gracious Lord.

5. To feed the lambs, the flock to tend – You shepherd all Your own;
Through pastors, teachers, parents sent – Your love in hearts is sown.

6. Lord, help us love and live for You, As us You saved in love;
Our praise and thanks we give to You, Now and in heav’n above.

The Invocation and Liturgy

P: O Lord, open Thou my lips.
C: And my mouth shall show forth Thy praise.

P: Make haste, O God, to deliver me
C: Make haste to help me, O Lord. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be: world without end. Amen. Hallelujah!

The Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15: 12 - 22
The importance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ to the Christian faith could not be greater as the Apostle Paul spells out in his powerful “If not… then not” section. Yet he reaffirms that to which our God has testified throughout Scripture and of which the apostles were eyewitnesses: “But now Christ is risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of all who sleep!”

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord – Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary,suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead, and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

Hymn 208 (V 4-8) – “That Night The Apostles Met In Fear…”

The Sermon……………………………………………………. John 20: 19 - 31

THE RISEN CHRIST CONVEYS EASTER POWER

1. The Power To Forgive Sins (V 19-23)
Then the same day at evening, when the doors were locked for fear of the Jews, and as the disciples were gathered, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” And He showed them His hands and His side. They were glad when they saw the Lord. And Jesus said to them, “Peace to you. As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And He breathed on them and said: “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; If you do not forgive, they are not forgiven.”

2. The Power To Believe (V 24-29)
But Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails and touch them and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” And after eight days His disciples were again inside with Thomas. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you!” Then He said to Thomas, “ Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; And reach your hand here and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen me you have believed. Blessed are they who have not seen and yet have believed.”

3. The Power To Live Forever (V 30-31)
And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples which are not written in this book: But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His Name.
